The Petralona cave is located at the western foothills of Mount Katsika in the Petralona Community. Formed within the limestones of the Upper Jurassic, it has an area of approximately 10,000 m2, with large halls decorated with colorful stalagmite formations.
The visitor, after crossing the horizontal artificial tunnel, arrives at the cave and following the arranged route, approximately 300m long, passes through its main rooms and chambers, where he has the opportunity to admire this magnificent creation of nature.
It actually shares quite a few features with other Neanderthal fossils, but there are also very primitive features. In general appearance it has the face of a Neanderthal but the skull of a more archaic type.
